Very cozy, delicious food, nice service. The waterfalls nearby, a great place.

We were here today (October 4th, 2020) after our hike. Unfortunately the service was a disaster. First you had to wait a while until you were asked what you wanted, the drinks came very quickly but we had to wait a full hour for the cake. Other guests who ordered after us had their cake before us. That doesn't work. And friendliness is there ... at least with the young lady who brought the things out, a foreign word. I never need to get there that fast.

In the past few years I have been there every now and then and every time I was impressed by the ambience, the small menu and the quality of the food that goes with it. Since there was apparently a change of ownership, it seems to be getting completely out of hand there. I really understand when food is sold out, but I'd like to know before I decide what to eat. The completely overpriced "homemade iced tea" came without ice. When asked, I didn't get one because there wasn't one. What there was was an obvious lack of understanding on the part of the waitress, how I could be bothered by it. The Käsespätzle are really a joke. Ready-made spaetzle in an indefinable, tasteless white sauce with a few crumbs of goat cheese and spring onions (?). It makes me really sad that this little place has become like that, but what is even worse is that it works that way due to the exposed location. Thanks to walk-in customers.

Beautiful place .. is very nicely located at the end of the village of Menzenschwand .. here you can have great food and then start an extensive hike.

We were there tonight with our little daughter. The welcome is very warm and after we had a short seat outside, a table quickly became free inside. The ambience both inside and outside is very nice and appealing. The food and drinks are very tasty and sufficient. The price / performance ratio is great. The Corona measures have been implemented very well. After our visit, we voluntarily filled out a slip of paper with our data and left it there. If we come back to the Black Forest, we'll be happy to go back to the cuckoo.

Our family of 5 was visiting the pretty pub "Zum Kuckuck". Right at the entrance we got a table on the sunny terrace and were glad that it was quite full. What really bothered us in Corona times was that almost all of the guests walked in without face masks and the waitress wore face masks on their chins. No guest registration. We were able to order the drinks after a reasonable waiting time and they were brought to us. Our youngest child's drink was forgotten and was only brought in when we ordered the food. However, the order for the food was awesome: as it was full, we understood that it would take time. However, the waitress completely ignored us and our hand signals. The next table got the food, a coffee, paid for, was cleared and there were new guests sitting there and we couldn't order any food! When the waitress wanted to take the drinks at this table, even though we had already waited frugally for 45 minutes with three children, we were upset. However, she showed no understanding, or a word of apology. We have NEVER experienced such a treatment and will not visit the "cuckoo" again.

We have been to the cafe every now and then over the past few years, the quality has always been very good. On our last visit, however, we were not at all satisfied. The cake was not homemade as usual, but obviously thawed and mushy. The still water came in a bottle that wasn't closed properly and tasted like it had been refilled from the tap (which of course is hard to prove ...). The service left a lot to be desired, everything took a long time. The other guests also had to keep asking because something was constantly being forgotten. The staff seemed overwhelmed. It's a shame, because we always enjoyed coming here because the atmosphere is really nice. In terms of quality, we prefer to eat cake elsewhere.

Restaurant with a large outdoor area right by the waterfalls. Clear menu with a focus on schnitzel dishes and goat products at a fair price. Smaller portions are also possible. Friendly service. Toilet accessible at ground level. Cash only.

Bread was dry. Was a feeling that he was on several tables before. Otherwise ambience is great

Small but nice hut that invites you to stop. Here you can sit well both inside and outside. The service is very quick and polite. The menu is quite clear, but there is something for the big and small hunger (and thirst). The sauerbraten (beef) with spaetzle was very well prepared and delicious. The corona measures were observed. I can unreservedly recommend the location!

Very funny, when we arrived, the waitress came to the table immediately and took the drinks without asking if we wanted something to eat. The drinks came very quickly, but then the waitress ignored us for 45 minutes, when we wanted to pay out of sheer frustration, the waitress was of the opinion that we had only just come (even sloppy). Guests who came after us were also served promptly. The menu was extensive, the food that the others got looked good. Therefore unfortunately only 1 star

Nice rustic atmosphere, we and our adult daughter and friend liked it very much. Food and drinks were perfect. Waiting time was normal, we weren't on the run but on vacation. We have been coming to the Black Forest for decades and know many restaurants, including those that are still very family-run. If you don't like that or even expect a 5-star kitchen with a lot of professional staff to be served as a perfect, faultless guest, you are wrong here. We would love to come back.

Comfortable and appealing designed restaurant to stay or as a starting / ending point for a hike. Super friendly staff, great cake selection, especially the Black Forest cake. There is a beautiful waterfall right behind the house !!

Super nice staff. Food was excellent, it tasted like it was cooked by mom. A cook with good taste and the perfect seasoning for all dishes. Great atmosphere outside and inside. Just great. We would love to come back.

Very bad experience. We had to wait over an hour for our food, and when it finally arrived it wasn't what we ordered. No apology whatsoever. Other guests were also left waiting. They need to hire more staff or warn guests about the waiting time!

Nice cafe with Schwarwaeldertorte. Modern and yet 'urig'. Waterfall in the turn. At the moment befrozen
